Thai restaurant to open new shop after fire destroyed Sacramento location. Here’s where
Gai ‘N Rice, a family-owned Thai cuisine destination, will open a second location nearly six months after its first restaurant went up in flames.
The Sacramento-based business known for its chicken and rice platters will soon serve its homemade recipes to the Elk Grove community, it announced on Instagram. The original shop at 4400 Freeport Blvd. in Land Park burned in an unexpected fire in October and its doors have been shut for renovations ever since.
“Because of YOU, we are staying strong and still moving forward,” Gia ‘N Rice wrote in a March statement on its social media pages.

Customers who used to frequent the Land Park location were warned shortly after the fire in a November Instagram post that renovations will take time but the store will “definitely” reopen.
The shop remains temporarily closed and its number is disconnected.
