Sacramento Vietnamese restaurant to close after 12 years: ‘Needed more for our family’

Family-owned Pho Le in south Sacramento will take a step from the restaurant business to focus on family.

After 12 years in business, the Vietnamese restaurant popular for its large portioned plates, announced it will be closing Sunday, April 23.

“We just realized we work here everyday, seven days a week. We want to kind of take (a) break,” said owner Ken Le. “We are closing yes, but we never said that we won’t re-open.”

Pho Le’s menu includes traditional Vietnamese dishes like pho, shrimp egg noodles, jelly fish salad and spring rolls. Plates range from $14 to $15, and appetizers and side dishes range from $3 to $8.

“At this time, right now, we just needed more for our family. During all this time we were working, we don’t see the beauty of family,” Le said. “That’s why we decided to make this move.”

Le said when they committed to the restaurant’s 10-year lease, once that time was up they would enjoy life a little more.

“This is all I know, I don’t know what I will feel once I close, so that’s all a mystery,” Le said when asked when or if he will reopen the restaurant again.

If you want to enjoy one last meal of Pho Le’s, it’s located at 8785 Center Parkway in the Valley Hi/North Laguna neighborhood, bordering Elk Grove. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then reopens from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
