The Sacramento Bee’s Local Engagement and Retention team polled readers on the best places in the Sacramento area to check out for Mother’s Day weekend.

What are the best local eateries, cafes or outdoor spaces to spend time with your mother? Here’s what readers said:

The Vine

A restaurant featuring rustic decor and lively green vines lined against its walls was a popular suggestion from readers.

The Vine, a wine and tapas bar with locations in Folsom and El Dorado Hills, is an ideal place to snap family pictures and capture Mom on her big day.

The Vine’s menu ranges from a charcuterie board ($25.99) to peach & burrata salad ($15.99) to margarita flatbread to chicken bacon tacos ($12.99), all paired with a large selection of bubbles and wines by owner and Level II WSET Wine Sommelier Lisa Gomez.

The menu also features a dinner for two or “Dinner at The Vine” ($49.99), which includes two glasses of wine and any three tapas. For something sweet, add a caramel apple sundae or any dessert to this deal for $6.

Apple Hill

This usual fall favorite in Sacramento will host different Mother’s Day activities, including brunches, picnics and tea parties on May 9 and May 10.

Apple Hill includes farms, gardens, orchards, vineyards, wineries and breweries sprinkled around the Sierra Nevada foothills. For specific Mother’s Day activities and events, be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time.

Delfino Farms will be offering seasonal menu items from Joan’s Apple Bakery, wine from Edio Vineyards and hard cider from Henrietta Stich, all located on its farm grounds. Guests can also expect pressed floral bookmarks, dough cookie and terra cotta pot decorating and planting workshops. This free event runs from noon to 4 p.m., and workshops require advance reservations.

At Boeger Winery, guests can reserve a table for six for a bring-your-own (BYO) picnic ($60 for members or $130 for non-members). The experience includes live music, an exclusive bottle of new rose or wine and a floral arrangement. Time slots are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

At Pine O Mine ranch, Moms can decorate and plant their own teacup with succulents in a $40 1-hour workshop accompanied by light snacks, lemonade and ice tea. Register here for a time slot at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. See the full list of Apple Hill agricultural experiences here and the event calendar.
