This artful Sacramento cafe is opening its second outpost in Granite Bay

Brew Bird Creative Cafe, which opened its first location adjacent to Vic’s Ice Cream in Land Park when it reopened earlier this year after renovations, is planning to open a second location in Granite Bay, as reported by Sacramento Business Journal.

The new cafe will occupy the space previously held by a Peet’s Coffee at 5550 Douglas Blvd, Suite D-110. That coffee shop closed in January.

Brew Bird serves Camellia coffee and pastries as well as wine, but also offers unfinished pottery that customers can paint. The cafe-studio then sends the painted pottery off to a kiln, and customers can pick up the finished piece about two weeks later.

The reopening of Vic’s was one of the most intensely followed developments in Sacramento’s food scene since owner Craig Rutledge died in March 2024.

A year ago, a group including Carlo Grifone — owner of local restaurant chain Giovanni’s Old World New York Pizzeria — and his daughter, Samantha, bought the property and reopened it after extensive renovations. She is the CEO of Brew Bird.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, Grifone plans to open more locations in California, but has not yet stated where.
