Capitol Mall Farmers Market will not be held Wednesday, July 1
The weekly Capitol Mall Farmers Market in downtown Sacramento will skip its regular Wednesday date on July 1 as part of the Fourth of July week celebrations.
The market is held on the Capitol Mall between 5th and 6th streets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays from April 29 to October 28, the Downtown Sacramento Partnership said.
However, it is not scheduled to take place Wednesday, July 1.
“Downtown Sacramento Partnership has a longstanding practice of pausing our recurring weekly daytime programming during the week of the Fourth of July, when holiday schedules typically impact downtown activity,” said partnership spokesperson Traci Rockefeller Cusack.
“This is something we’ve done consistently over the years, as many of our farmers and vendors dedicate significant time and resources to participating in these events, and attendance is historically lower during the holiday week,” she said. “We’re excited to resume our regular programming next week as employees continue returning to the office.”
The cancellation has no connection to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s return-to-office order for state workers, which goes into effect Wednesday.
The market, which features local food and beverage vendors, select retailers and outdoor seating, will return starting at 9 a.m. July 8.
