Subway Introduces First-of-its-Kind Foot-Long Hot Dog: The SubDog

For decades, Subway has remained known for its famously oversized sandwiches and conveniently low prices, making it a fantastic option for all those interested in budget-friendly meals to enjoy on the go.

While we're always partial to a classic Italian sub or an equally delicious club sandwich, Subway has just captured our attention with their brand-new menu addition: the SubDog.

According to a recent press release from the company, the SubDog is a "category-reinventing sandwich experience that transforms an all-beef Schneiders hot dog into a fully customizable Subway sub."

Far from being just a hot dog alone, the SubDog features a nearly half-pound, all-beef hot dog that comes with an assortment of customizable options and add-ons, including fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes and/or a drizzle of ketchup or mustard.

"People have been debating this for years, but at Subway, we know sandwiches," says Chef John Botelho, Culinary Manager at Subway Canada. "With the SubDog, we're not just joining the conversation; we're settling it. This is a classic summer favourite, reimagined the Subway way – fully customizable, built exactly how you want it, with your choice of bread, toppings and sauces."

As worthwhile as the new menu item might sound, it's worth mentioning that, sadly, the new SubDog sandwich is only available at Subway locations in Canada right now. While it's always possible the menu item might eventually expand to the states, as of right now, the only place you'll find them is in the Great White North.

As expected, the new item's debut in Canadian Subway locations has sparked a viral reaction across social media, with many expressing their interest in the first-of-its-kind footlong hot dog.

"OK... we're glistening," one fan wrote on Instagram.

"This is groundbreaking," added another.

"Let's GOOOO!!!" echoed a fourth, complete with a fire emoji next to their comment.
