Burger King Doubles Down on Iconic Sandwich With 2 New Versions
Burger King has been doing big things lately, from collaborating with Disney on its limited-time Star Wars menu for the premiere of The Mandalorian and Grogu to debuting Whoppers inspired by fans' wildest dreams as part of the Million Dollar Whopper contest.

Now, it's taking on a beloved menu item: its iconic chicken sandwich. The elongated white meat chicken patty on a sesame seed bun typically comes with shredded lettuce and creamy mayonnaise, but the fast food giant is elevating the sandwich in two major ways.
First up there's the loaded jalapeño original chicken sandwich, which adds a spicy twist to the menu item with creamy jalapeño sauce, crispy and pickled jalapeños, crispy onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and American cheese. If you're not a fan of spicy food, but want an elevated take on the chicken sandwich, there's also the new club chicken version, which comes with crispy bacon, melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and creamy mayonnaise. Both will be available for a limited time at participating Burger King restaurants starting on July 7.

"The Original Chicken Sandwich is a true Burger King icon that's been loved for its signature seasoning, taste, and unmistakable shape since 1979," said Joel Yashinsky, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King US&C, in a statement shared with Parade. "Through our ongoing Guest listening initiative, we heard just how passionate fans are about this sandwich, and how excited they are for new twists on it. The Loaded Jalapeño and Club flavors are our way of celebrating that love while adding something new to the lineup."
Popular food blogger Markie Devo shared the news on Facebook, prompting commenters to proclaim that it's "About time they made more!" Several also noted that they were most excited for the club version, though over on Instagram, the influencer's commenters said, "anything jalapeño is my fave."
