The annual California Strawberry Festival will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, in Oxnard, just south of Santa Barbara. The festival will offer more than 50 strawberry-centric dishes and treats, including pizza, crepes, beer and shortcake, all made with the fruit. Cooking demonstrations and educational presentations will be hosted throughout the weekend. There will also be a variety of strawberry-themed competitions, including a pie-eating contest and a strawberry recipe contest. Live entertainment and arts and crafts activities will take place throughout the weekend.

General admission is $12, senior tickets cost $8 and children’s cost $5. The event will be hosted at Strawberry Meadows of College Park at 3250 S. Rose Ave.

Silent Film Benefit

 

What: The Catalina Island Museum will host its annual Silent Film Benefit, featuring “One Week” starring Buster Keaton and “The Kid Brother” starring Harold Lloyd. The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra will perform a live musical accompaniment. Attendees are encouraged to dress to fit the era.
