Spaniard burger at Localis

$15; 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays; www.localissacramento.com; 21st and S streets in Sacramento

Chef/co-owner Chris Barnum cooks this lunch menu item on a cast-iron grill plate in Localis’ wood-fired oven. It contains half a pound of beef from Petaluma’s Stemple Creek Ranch, manchego cheese and spicy romesco sauce on a ciabatta bun, The burger is dressed with red lettuce with salt and lemon. Served with house-made root vegetable chips or seasonal side salad. (add $2 for smashed and fried fingerling potatoes, $3 for jamon serrano), to be a contender in any battle in which it participates.

Drink

Lolea No. 2 White Sangria Frizzante

$14.00 for 750 ml.; Whole Foods; www.sangrialolea.com

Pop the top on this polka-dotted bottle of fruity and fizzy sangria and say hello to summer. A Spanish import, it’s light and refreshing, but not overly sweet (for sangria, anyway).

Crunch

Jarlsberg Cheese Crisps

$4 to $5 per 4-ounce bag; local supermarkets www.norseland.com

To commemorate its 60th anniversary, Norweigan cheesemaker Norseland introduces hand-crafted Jarlsberg Cheese Crisps in four flavors: rosemary-olive oil, chipotle, garlic-herb and Mediterranean sea salt. Shredded Jarlsberg Cheese is “sprinkled on top of the crunchy crackers just prior to being baked.” Top them with anything and complement them with white wine.

Enjoy

Hummingbird Coffee Cake

$7.99 each; Taylor’s Market, www.taylorsmarket.com

Buttery, rich and tropical with the addition of pineapple, this Taylor’s-made coffeecake makes a sweet start to the day. And with its petite size, there’s only so much damage you can do to your calorie intake before running out.

Munch

Honey Mama’s Dutch Cacao-Nectar Bar

$5.99 for 2.5 oz: Taylor’s and other retailers; www.honeymamas.com

This combination of honey, sprouted organic almonds and cocoa powder may seem more like health food than dessert, but it’s creamy and chocolatey with a subtle crunch from the ground almonds. Keep it cool: It melts at 76 degrees.
