Popular Land Park restaurant among 9 Sacramento-area spots briefly closed by health inspectors

Eight Sacramento County restaurants were temporarily closed in the last week due to health violations, including Land Park institution Dad’s Kitchen, Old Sacramento watering hole O’Mally’s Irish Pub and midtown’s P.F. Chang’s Chinese Bistro.

Round Table Pizza and Tugboat Fish & Chips in Antelope, El Favorito, Don Verga and India Palace all closed at various points in the last week as well.

El Favorito, Don Verga, Hawaiian Luau BBQ & Poke and O’Mally’s remained closed Friday morning after failing their Sacramento County Environmental Management Division inspections Thursday, records show.

Dad’s Kitchen failed on Wednesday and posted an Instagram story saying it had reopened Friday. County records show it had passed its reinspection on Friday. The other four restaurants have all reopened after passing subsequent reinspections.

Full inspection reports are not yet available for the restaurants that remain closed, but Sacramento County’s website said vermin contamination shut down El Favorito at 10427 Folsom Blvd. in Rancho Cordova and Hawaiian Luau BBQ & Poke at 1976 Fulton Ave., while Dad’s Kitchen had sewage/wastewater disposal problems at 2968 Freeport Blvd.

P.F. Chang’s also closed as a result of sewage/wastewater disposal issue on Tuesday before passing reinspection and reopening Wednesday. Its inspection report had not been made public as of Friday morning.

Inspectors shut down India Palace on Jan. 16 after finding roughly 100 mouse droppings throughout the kitchen at 8865 Folsom Blvd. Most were on a prep table, on a nearby refrigerator and on the floor between potato and onion storage. It passed reinspection and reopened the next day.

Tugboat Fish & Chips failed back-to-back inspections Jan. 16 and 17 after Sacramento County inspectors found cockroaches both times. They uncovered more than 15 living German cockroaches in and by deteriorating tiles by the mechanical dishwasher on the first visit to 7909 Walerga Rd. #111, then three live ones and several dead on the 17th. Tugboat then passed reinspection Saturday.

After Tugboat failed its review on the 17th, the inspector walked across the Antelope Marketplace shopping center into Round Table Pizza. Two cockroaches were found on the floor in the dough prep room, plus another by the freezer. It reopened Saturday as well.

A number of high-profile Sacramento restaurants conditionally passed inspection in the last week as well, including KoJa Kitchen (twice), Midtown Sushi, Chicago Fire Pizza, Aji Dori, Yang’s Noodles and I Love Teriyaki locations in Natomas and midtown Sacramento.
