Folsom restaurant and taproom closes after employee tests positive for COVID-19
Out of Bounds Craft Kitchen & Biergarten will shut down for several days after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, the Folsom restaurant and taproom announced on Facebook on Monday night.
Acording to the post, the employee recently called in sick with flu-like symptoms and later tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus that is known to have killed nearly 6,000 people across California and more than 125,000 nationwide.
The infected employee will self-quarantine for two weeks and other staff members will only return to work after testing negative. Out of Bounds had checked employees’ temperatures before each shift and required them to wear masks, in addition to setting up sanitizing stations, disinfecting tables spaced 6 feet apart after each party left and nightly “deep cleanings,” the restaurant wrote on Facebook.
“Please understand that we are doing this for the safety of our guests and our staff,” Out of Bounds wrote. “We look forward to seeing you again once we have disinfected and have the assurance that we are providing the safest environment possible.”
Out of Bounds expanded from its Rocklin brewery to the $3 million property at 13407 Folsom Blvd., Suite D in Folsom in March 2018. The Rocklin brewery and taproom will remain open while the Folsom location is closed.
Sacramento County bars were forced to close Monday after Gov. Gavin Newsom recommended they do so the previous day. Those with kitchens or catering partners can keep serving drinks alongside food purchases.
Out of Bounds planned to defy the Sacramento County’s takeout-only restrictions and reopen for dine-in service on May 15 but ultimately backed off, according to social media posts. It reopened the Folsom location when Sacramento County gave restaurants the green light May 22.
