It’s not a diner, a drive-in or a dive, but Guy Fieri’s back in the Sacramento region.

The Food Network host opened his newest concept, Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen, as a pop-up in Roseville’s Buca Di Beppo last weekend. Located at 1212 Galleria Blvd. inside Creekside Shopping Center, it’ll be running as a delivery-only ghost kitchen for an undetermined time.

Flavortown Kitchen’s menu is classic Fieri: cheese steak egg rolls ($14.99, feeds two), burgers dripping in Donkey Sauce ($9.99-$12.99), a “cheesecake challenge” topped with crushed potato chips and pretzels ($7.95).

A Humboldt County native, Fieri graduated from American River College’s culinary arts program and worked as the flambé chef at Sacramento’s Red Lion hotel. He went on to open restaurant concepts Tex Wasabi’s — current Bee dining critic Kate Washington’s lone one-star review while at the Sacramento News & Review — and Johnny Garlic’s in Sonoma County.

Fieri’s bleached tips and flame-print shirts became nationally known on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”, a traveling ode to down-home restaurants and bars that’s highlighted Sacramento establishments such as Dad’s Kitchen, The Golden Bear and Jamie’s Broadway Grille. His subsequent series Guy’s Grocery Games sends contestants racing around “Flavortown Market,” with limited time and budget to make easily recognizable dishes like tacos and hamburgers.

Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen now delivers out of more than 100 Buca Di Beppo locations in 23 states, including 17 California locations.
