16 new Sacramento-area restaurants that opened in September, including 7 in Placer County

At least 16 new restaurants opened around the Sacramento area in September 2021, including four pizzerias, three places specializing in Korean food and two in Japanese.

Almost half the new restaurants opened in Placer County, including four in Roseville, two in Auburn and one in Lincoln. Two restaurants also opened in Natomas and midtown Sacramento, and one apiece in downtown Sacramento, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova and Antelope.

These restaurants opened during September 2021:

Bambi Vegan Tacos (1725 I St., Sacramento): The former Easy On I sports bar marks the first brick-and-mortar location for this plant-based taco spot/sandwich hub/cocktail bar, which Elizabeth Gibb and Chad Novick started as a food truck in 2018.

Cuckoos Grill (2315 Northgate Blvd., Sacramento): This fast-casual halal grillhouse in south Natomas has a globe-trotting menu that spans from shawarma to tacos to biryani to burgers.

Delish Pizza (2200 16th St., Sacramento): This casual pizzeria, which also has locations in Gold River, Rosemont, North Highlands and Woodland, replaced a former Pizza Hut near the 16th and V streets intersection.

El Burrito Taqueria (13446 Lincoln Way, Auburn): El Burrito Taqueria’s tortas, seafood dishes and breakfast tostadas can also be found in Roseville, Natomas and Davis.

Gangnam Ave. 2 Go (8469 Elk Grove Blvd., Suite 6, Elk Grove): Sylvia and Young Choi, owners of Gangnam Ave. in Rancho Cordova, opened a takeout-only Korean barbecue outpost in Laguna 99 shopping center.

Henry’s Lounge (2019 O St., Sacramento): As of Sept. 3, the former Alley Katz bar and grill is now the second iteration of this sports bar and arcade, which ran from 1986 to 2019 at 1117 9th St.

Lincoln Speakeasy Taproom (436 Lincoln Blvd., Suite 202, Lincoln): “Prohibition ends here” at this 1920s-themed bar upstairs in the old Lincoln Brand Feeds building, which also sells burgers, charcuterie boards and fried finger foods.

Luba (780 Lincoln Way, Auburn): Must-try pies at Carmen and Corey Belanger’s sourdough pizzeria include the Foggy Dew Mushroom (mixed mushrooms, mozzarella, fontina, garlic cream and roasted onions) and Coronado (housemade chorizo, mozzarella, tomato sauce, jalapeños, pickled red onions and cilantro).

Lumpia Ko — Eats & Boba (7893 Walerga Rd., Suite 105, Antelope): Silog dishes (meat served over garlic rice and fried egg) and hand-rolled lumpia make up most of the menu at this Filipino fusion joint, which opened Sept. 22.

MOD Pizza (190 Roseville Pkwy., Suite 100, Roseville): Customers pick from more than 30 toppings, some seasonal, at this speedy build-your-own pizza chain that picked west Roseville for its sixth area location.

MoJoe’s (2300 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville): Juli Hinton’s cafe in the new Village Westpark shopping center opened Sept. 22 with breakfast pastries in the morning and Gunther’s Ice Cream in the afternoon.

Satori Sushi & Teriyaki Grill (2550 W El Camino Ave., Suite 13, Sacramento): You’ll find bento boxes, noodle soups and 34 different types of sushi rolls at this Natomas restaurant, which has a sister location in Elk Grove.

Stallionz Pizza (1200 Cirby Way, Roseville): Pizzas like the Stallionz Supreme (chicken, white sauce, mushrooms, red onion and jalapeño slices) or Stallz BBQ (chicken, bacon, barbecue sauce and pineapple) dot the menu at this southeast Roseville restaurant, which opened Sept. 10.

Teriyaki Town (1060 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville): Noodle dishes, teriyaki plates and sushi such as the Roseville Roll (deep fried shrimp and crab inside, topped with salmon, avocado, sweet-and-spicy sauce and tobiko) are among the offerings at this Highland Crossing shopping center restaurant.
