Dairy-free diners won’t have long to enjoy Conscious Creamery’s gelato in this summer’s heat, as the all-vegan gelateria announced its impending closure Thursday night.

The North Oak Park gelateria at 3400 Broadway, Suite 100, will close on July 30 or whenever it runs out of product, co-owner Andrea Seppinni said in an Instagram and Facebook post.

“Although we are excited about this new chapter, we will truly miss the many friends we have made over the years creating and sharing gelato and other sweet treats with the greater Sacramento community,” the post read.

Andrea and Kevin Seppinni fell in love with dairy-free gelato on their 30th wedding anniversary trip to Central and Eastern Europe in 2015. Gelato is a denser, smoother alternative to ice cream invented in Italy in the 1500s.

Andrea had been making vegan desserts for family and friends since 2009, and the couple decided to open their own gelato truck upon return, which then led to the Oak Park Triangle store in 2020.

The Seppinnis then became grandparents to a baby boy, which they said led their decision to close Conscious Creamery. Anyone interested in buying the business can email inquiry@consciouscreamery.com.
