Super Duper Burgers’ clientele have moved to the Sacramento area. Now the Bay Area burger chain is following them.

Super Duper plans to open in April at 1119 Galleria Blvd. in Roseville, co-founder Edmondo Sarti confirmed to The Sacramento Bee. It’ll be the first Super Duper outside of the Bay Area — and at roughly 5,000 square feet, considerably bigger than the 18 preexisting locations.

Bay Area residents from Napa to Los Gatos seek out Super Duper’s orange sign for smash burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches ($10.50) and seasonal milkshakes ($7), along with a few vegetarian and vegan options.

The flagship burger ($10.50) features two quarter-pound patties with lettuce, tomato, red onion and house sauce, plus cheese for a dollar or two extra. Jars of free housemade pickles have become customer favorites as well.

A Super Duper employee contacts Imperial County-based Brandt Beef every few days with a meat order, which is then ground and shipped fresh to the restaurants. Richmond-based New York Bakery exclusively makes burger buns and ciabatta sandwich bread for Super Duper, and Petaluma’s Straus Family Creamery organic soft serve forms the basis for shakes.

“We’ve continuously upgraded in order to stay on top of the premium quality, not only from a flavor standpoint but also from a nutritional standpoint,” Sarti said. “Often times when restaurant groups get bigger, they tend to cut on ingredients or save here and there to continue making a profit, and we’ve gone completely the other direction.”

Super Duper gets more requests for a Sacramento-area location than anywhere else, said Sarti, who cooked at Pasta Pomodoro (now closed) in Elk Grove and Roseville before co-founding his burger joint in 2010.

“We’ve been looking at the Sacramento market for a long time, and not a lot of great places were available,” Sarti said. “For some reason, a lot of people in Sacramento already seem to know Super Duper. But if they don’t, they should expect ... a premium fast food burger focused very much on quality and people.”

Roseville, in particular, seems to be a common ask. Its population has rapidly grown over the past five years thanks in large part to Bay Area transplants, who often come with the level of disposable income Super Duper seeks in a possible location.

The new location is right outside Westfield Galleria at Roseville, where Amy’s Drive Thru used to be. Super Duper will continue using the drive-through window in hopes of attracting passers-by on Interstate 80 and Highway 65. Inside, games such as shuffleboard, table tennis and foosball will invite locals to stay a while.

Amy’s Drive Thru closed in February 2024, slightly more than two years after opening. The vegetarian-friendly restaurant from freezer aisle favorite Amy’s Kitchen has two standalone Bay Area locations and one in San Francisco International Airport.
