Michelin just recognized 15 more California restaurants — none of them from Sacramento
Michelin has unveiled a list of 15 new California restaurants to be featured in its upcoming statewide guide. No Sacramento-area restaurants are on the list, but hope isn’t yet lost for additional praise.
The 15 new restaurants will all win honors of some sort when California’s 2025 Michelin Guide is released, on a date still to be determined. Additional restaurants could also be feted with Michelin stars or Bib Gourmands (great eats on a budget), a company spokesperson said Wednesday.
Seven Bay Area restaurants will be awarded stars or Bib Gourmands: Sun Moon Studio in Oakland, Table Culture Provisions in Petaluma, Enclos in Sonoma and Four Kings, Verjus, The Wild and Prelude in San Francisco.
Carmel-by-the-Sea neighborhood restaurant Stationaery was also named, likely as a Bib Gourmand contender. The other seven came from the south state: Kusano in Culver City, Seline in Santa Monica and Bar Etoile, Rasarumah, Mori Nozomi, Restaurant Ki and Tomat in Los Angeles.
Sacramento’s section of the statewide Michelin Guide has been stagnant since 2022, with no new stars, Bib Gourmands or other mentions in the 2023 and 2024 editions.
Eighty-five California restaurants have stars, including The Kitchen in Land Park and Localis in midtown Sacramento. Another 132 have Bib Gourmands, with Frank Fat’s downtown, East Sacramento’s Canon, Yue Huang in North Natomas and Nixtaco in Roseville among them.
