Station 16 closes in midtown Sacramento; Elk Grove seafood spot staying open
Sacramento restaurant Station 16 has closed its doors, ending a nearly decade-long run in the city’s midtown, its owners announced, but will keep open its sister site in Elk Grove.
Saturday was the Sacramento seafood restaurant’s final day at 1116 16th St. Station 16 chef Minnie Nguyen told patrons Friday via the eatery’s Facebook page. The Sacramento Business Journal first reported the story.
“It’s a bittersweet moment as we prepare to close our doors in midtown. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all of our guests who have supported us for almost 10 years,” Nguyen said. “This location has been such a meaningful part of my journey — teaching me, challenging me, and helping me grow as a chef and person.”
Nguyen and co-owner Trinh Le, also owners of Firehouse Crawfish and Daikon Korean BBQ, looked south to Elk Grove last year, opening a second Station 16 in December at 9625 E. Stockton Blvd.
The recently opened Elk Grove room carries much of the same menu as the midtown eatery, featuring oysters Rockefeller, pan seared scallops and raw bar Kumamoto and Blue Point oysters among other seafood offerings.
