A new fiery chicken spot is joining The Marketplace at Granite Bay shopping center on Sept. 3. Yummy Hot Chicken

A new fiery chicken spot will spice up the Marketplace at Granite Bay shopping center starting Sept. 3.

Yummy Hot Chicken is replacing Green Grill, a mostly vegan restaurant chain that closed its midtown Sacramento, Rancho Cordova and Granite Bay locations last month.

Menu items include chicken sandwiches and wings made with homemade spices, regional influences and customizable heat levels, the Sacramento Business Journal reported.

“What makes Yummy Hot Chicken unique: we use a 24-hour buttermilk brine, then coat each piece in a house-blended chili oil that gives our hot chicken its signature fire and flavor,” owner Hrachik Arustamyan said. Arustamyan and his wife Asya Bakhtiyaryan said their take on the Southern staple was influenced by their dining experiences after trying out the hot chicken for the first time, according to What Now Sacramento.

After experimenting and adjusting spice levels, they turned for final approval to their children.

Yummy Hot Chicken is set to fill a 1,224-square-foot space near the Raley’s supermarket inside the shopping center on Douglas Boulevard and Auburn Folsom Road.

The Marketplace at Granite Bay recently added The Mimosa House, a brunch restaurant chain, and Pure Green, a juice bar, is lined up for next summer, as reported by the Business Journal.
