An upscale Spanish tapas restaurant is set to open in Roseville

A Spanish family’s tapas chain is debuting in the Sacramento area in mid-October with the opening of its Roseville location.

Telefèric Barcelona is launching its new restaurant in The Fountains at Roseville, 1190 Roseville Parkway, on Saturday, Oct. 18. The restaurant serves shareable Spanish favorites like patatas bravas and jamón ibérico alongside upscale takes on tapas, including wagyu empanadas and truffle oil octopus. Its traditional paellas include lobster, squid ink, pork and vegetarian variants.

Siblings Xavier and Maria Padrosa founded their restaurant in Barcelona in 1992, eventually opening their first U.S. outpost in Walnut Creek in 2015, according to a news release. Since then, the restaurant expanded to two locations in Barcelona and one in Arizona, while the Roseville Telefèric will be the chain’s sixth in California.

“’Since opening our first U.S. restaurant in Walnut Creek a decade ago, Telefèric Barcelona has grown beyond anything we could have imagined,’” Xavier said in the news release. “’What started as a dream to share the flavors and spirit of our home in Barcelona has become a movement across California.’”

Telefèric Barcelona’s menu includes a range of tapas and paellas, including a vegetarian option with shiitake mushrooms, broccolini and truffle aioli. The Spanish chain’s Roseville location at 1190 Roseville Parkway will open Thursday, Oct. 18, 2025.

According to the release, the chain strives to maintain authenticity by sourcing chefs, ingredients, wine and interior design materials and furniture directly from Spain. Its wine cellar will include more than 100 wines from Spanish wine-producing regions like Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat and Rías Baixas, it says.

“’Bringing Telefèric Barcelona to Roseville is a milestone that fills us with pride, and another opportunity to invite a new community to gather, connect, and experience the joy of Spanish dining the way it’s meant to be: full of life, laughter and FIESTA,’” Xavier said in the release.

In addition to full-service dining, the restaurant will have a dedicated market with imported Spanish goods, including olive oil, chocolate, spices and more, according to the release. The new restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner every day — 11:30 a.m.-9:15 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.-10:15 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m.-10:15 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-9:15 p.m. Sunday.
