Yemeni cafe chain to open Elk Grove franchise location. Here’s where

A Bay Area-based Yemeni cafe chain is expanding its footprint in the Sacramento area with a new Elk Grove coffee house.

In a social media announcement, Sana’a Cafe shared plans to open a second capital region location in the Laguna Gateway shopping center.

“It’s finally time we expanded, and it couldn’t be at a better place in Elk Grove,” a Sana’a team member said in the video post.

The new outpost, at 9135 W. Stockton Blvd., Suite 140, will neighbor hot pot restaurant Shabu Gen and Chinese eatery Chef Bo in Laguna Gateway’s eastern development.

Sana’a Cafe’s first location in the area opened in November at 901 K St. in downtown Sacramento, brewing traditional espresso drinks and spiced Yemeni-style coffee and chai beverages with cardamom, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and saffron. The chain — named for Yemen’s historic, UNESCO-recognized capital city — has seven current franchise locations across California and various others listed as “coming soon” on its website.

In its post, the cafe said more information about the Elk Grove cafe’s opening date and grand opening festivities would be coming soon. A Sacramento Bee reporter was not able to reach a Sana’a Cafe representative for comment Thursday morning.

Sana’a Cafe’s downtown location is open 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-midnight Friday, 9 a.m.-midnight Saturday and 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday.
