A Sacramento doughnut mainstay announces its closure after nearly four decades
A longtime player in Sacramento’s doughnut scene is closing its doors after nearly 40 years in business.
Broadway Donuts, 2731 Broadway, announced on social media Monday evening that it was closing its doors this month as operations have become “no longer feasible” due to unspecified challenges in recent years. The family-owned business said its last day open would be Friday, Dec. 12.
According to the post, the So family launched their doughnut shop in the late 1980s in the former spot of Baker Ben’s Donuts.
“The whole family worked here at one time or another,” the announcement reads. “Since then, some of us have retired. Some settled into other careers. Now, it’s time for the rest to say goodbye.”
In its post, the business thanked the Sacramento community for its 37 years of patronage at the small building on the corner of 28th Street and Broadway.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support, loyalty, and friendship all these years,” the post reads. “You welcomed us into your mornings, your celebrations, and your routines. You allowed us to be part of your lives, and for that, we are truly thankful.”
