Folsom restaurant owner shifts gears, opens Stonebird Japanese Grill
Restaurant-goers might notice something different in Folsom’s Broadstone Marketplace.
Xu Tinjoe, owner of Rakkan Ramen, opened Stonebird Japanese Grill and Noodles in the same storefront at 2766 E. Bidwell St., Suite 300. Tinjoe said Folsom lacked Japanese grill options, and he wanted to expand dining choices in the eastern suburb.
“Customers are excited for the grill because in this area (there’s) a lot of ramen and sushi restaurants,” Tinjoe said.
Stonebird Japanese Grill and Noodles features a different menu and new decor, including chairs and posters, according to manager Max de la Garza. Yakitori skewers, similar to kebabs, are prepared over an open flame before being finished with either sea salt or house tare sauce. Skewer options include chicken, pork and seafood, with prices ranging from $5.99 to $13.99.
Appetizers include edamame, chilled tofu, chilled cucumber, pork gyoza, crispy tofu and crispy Brussels sprouts, according to the menu. Appetizer prices range from $4.99 to $10.99.
Ramen remains on the menu, including miso and creamy ramen options, both available with a spicy version, according to the menu. Ramen prices range from $17.99 to $18.99. Extra toppings are available for an additional charge.
“We kept the same flavor for the ramen noodle section,” Tinjoe said.
Weekday lunch hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dinner is served from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Stonebird Japanese Grill and Noodles opened May 15. Tinjoe operated Rakkan Ramen for more than two years before the transition.
Broadstone Marketplace is north of Highway 50 at the corner of East Bidwell Street and Broadstone Parkway near Palladio. The shopping center is home to businesses including Temple Coffee, Bel Air Market and Club Pilates, according to its website.
