A section of a recently remodeled park in the Arden Arcade area will be dedicated Saturday in honor of a slain Sacramento County sheriff's deputy.

During the dedication of the Deputy Danny Oliver Memorial Plaza in the Mission Oaks Park District's Eastern Oak Park, a plaque will be unveiled in memory of Oliver who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Oct. 24, 2014. The event comes a little more than two weeks after Luis Bracamontes was convicted of murder in the slaying Oliver and Placer County sheriff's detective Michael Davis Jr.

California State Sen. Jim Nielsen, Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones and Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters will speak during the dedication, which is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon, rain or shine..

Weather permitting, the dedication will be followed by games and activities celebrating the grand opening of the remodeled park at 3127 Eastern Ave.
