Rancho Murieta
Rancho Murieta is a planned and gated community located 23 miles east of Sacramento in a rural setting along the Cosumnes River.
Construction of homes began in the mid-1970s. Buyers are attracted by the setting, two 18-hole championship golf courses, a country club, tennis courts, five lakes, townhouses and quarter-acre estate lots on private streets and an airport.
Outside the gates are an equestrian center, a post office, health club, restaurants, shopping center and more. The Cosumnes River provides fishing and recreation.
Rancho Murieta is a 3,500-acre community surrounded by open hills studded with oaks. The area is full of wildlife -- deer, turkey, salmon and the occasional bald eagle and coyote. There is a range of social organizations and clubs, including bridge, chess, cycling, genealogy, fishing and singing.
Its unique location provides good access to Sacramento as well as the Elk Grove and Folsom areas, where additional shopping is available.
