Livingston man arrested after boat accident at Lake Camanche kills 1 and injures 7

A Livingston man was arrested after a boat crash on Lake Camanche on Sunday night left one woman dead and seven injured, including the boat’s driver, according to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.

Jose Manuel Gil was driving a boat while under the influence of alcohol around 9:19 p.m. when it ran aground and crashed, according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office. Six adults and two children were in the boat when it crashed.

One woman was pronounced dead, two victims were airlifted to a hospital while the others were transported via ambulance. Once Gil, 33, was found to be under the influence, he was arrested, deputies said.

He is being held at Amador County Jail on $100,000 bail and faces charges of manslaughter, boating under the influence, child cruelty, providing false identification and resisting or obstructing arrest.
