Elks park breakfast

The Elks park breakfast is scheduled for 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday at Merced Elks RV Park, 3600 Wardrobe Ave. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, orange juice and coffee. Bloody marys and screwdrivers are also available. Donation is $6 for adults and $3 children.

Tea party meeting

The Merced-Atwater Tea Party’s monthly meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the VFW Hall, Fifth Street and Broadway Avenue. The program for the evening will be a candidates forum for the main Merced County offices in the November election. Confirmed attendees are District 3 Supervisor candidates Daron McDaniel and Tony Dossetti and sheriff candidate Vern Warnke. Sheriff candidate Pat Lunney’s attendance is anticipated. Everyone is invited to attend and participate.

Merced Shakespearefest

Merced ShakespeareFest will present Shakespeare’s “Cymbeline” on Sept. 6, 7, 13 and 14 in Applegate Park, Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Sundays at 5 p.m. The play will also be shown at UC Merced Amphitheater on Sept. 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. All shows are free to the public. McKenna Faith

Club Mercedes will present country music recording artist McKenna Faith at 8 p.m Aug. 22 at 569 W. Ninth St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Price is $10 per person, age 21 years and older. Food and beverage bar available. For tickets, call (209) 777-6750 or (209) 383-9906 after 4 p.m.

Preschool orientation

The preschool at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will have a parent orientation at 7 p.m. Thursday at the parish hall, 1801 Winton Way. Parent orientation welcomes all new families interested in enrolling their 2- to 5-year-old children in a nurturing, caring and Christian learning environment. Parents will be introduced to policies and procedures, paperwork may be submitted, questions will be answered, and everyone will have a chance to tour the preschool. Cancer recovery program

Regenerations Wellness Cancer Foundation’s “Pathways Towards Recovery” is a restorative wellness program offering a continuum of care services, programs and resources for cancer survivors and caregivers in Merced County. The objective of the program is to encourage adult cancer patients to seek support and participate in local aftercare restorative wellness programs after the difficult treatment phase. Instructor proposals

Merced College Community Services is accepting proposals for the spring 2015 term. Courses will begin in January and continue through June. Please complete and return the proposal form as soon as possible if you are interested in teaching a course. Forms can be found at www.mercedcommunityservices.com or by calling (209) 384-6224. Proposals for spring 2015 will be reviewed starting Aug. 22.

Booster Club event

The Le Grand High School Booster Club will hold a Beach Bash and Class of 1984 reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Vista Ranch and Cellars, 7326 E. Highway 140.
