The current average price of unleaded regular gasoline in California is $2.79 a gallon, unchanged from last month, according to the latest monthly, statewide AAA report released Tuesday.
In the Sacramento area, the average at-the-pump cost on Tuesday was $2.60 a gallon, down just a penny from the Oct. 11 survey. The Northern California region saw a steeper drop; the average price of $2.69 a gallon was down 6 cents from October.
“Prices have been relatively steady over the past week despite tightened supply in the California market, and the wrap-up of planned maintenance on the Olympic pipeline early last week in the Northwest.” said Cynthia Harris AAA Northern California spokeswoman. “BP shut down operations on its Pacific Northwest pipeline system to conduct planned maintenance Oct. 27 and reopened the line a few days later.”
Marysville has the cheapest gas in the Northern California region, with an average price of $2.36 a gallon; South Lake Tahoe has the highest average at $2.93.
