New multiplex cinema about to open where domed theaters once stood
The revamped Century Arden 14 movie theater complex, former home of the iconic domed theaters, is slated to open Dec. 1, a Cinemark spokeswoman said.
Sacramento moviegoers have had limited choices for months as the Cinemark theaters near Arden Fair Mall and in Downtown Plaza underwent renovations. Adjacent to the Howe ’Bout Arden complex on Ethan Way, Century Arden 14 will have 14 screens, luxury recliners, foot rests and cup holders, Cinemark’s Marketing Manager Jennifer Wood said.
The theater will sell beer and wine when its license is approved, Wood said.
The dome-shaped theaters were torn down in stages beginning in 2015. The last, and the largest, dome roof came down in January. The theater is operated by Cinemark, but the land is owned by SyWest Enterprises of San Rafael, which also owns Howe ’Bout Arden.
