Nebraska firm acquires Sacramento building supply company

A Nebraska company says it has acquired Sacramento-based River City Building Supply Inc., which oversees four stores.

Omaha-based SouthernCarlson Inc., which bills itself as one of the nation’s leading fastening and packaging distributors, said the acquisition was finalized March 31.

Financial details were not disclosed.

RCBS has a store at 801 Striker Ave., in Sacramento’s Natomas area, and locations in Modesto, Livermore and San Jose. All of those stores will be converted to the SouthernCarlson brand, according to spokeswoman Sherry Wittrock.

“It’s exciting to join an organization which will bring further opportunities to all of our employees in the future,” Vinnie Villano, president of River City, said in a statement.

SouthernCarlson said Villano will take on a new role as executive vice president of operations.

SouthernCarlson said it employs more than 900 people and has more than 150 locations internationally.
