AAA’s 'tipsy tow' service available to St. Patrick’s Day revelers
AAA Northern California is offering its free “tipsy tow” service to St. Patrick’s Day revelers who have been drinking alcohol and need a ride home, and their vehicles towed there as well.
The service is open to anyone; AAA membership is not required.
AAA will offer the service from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday throughout Northern California. AAA said motorists, party hosts, bartenders and restaurant managers can call (800) 222-4357 to request a free tow – of up to 10 miles – for drivers. The service will provide a one-way ride for the driver and vehicle to the driver’s home.
If additional passengers need a ride, they will be taken to the driver’s home as long as there is sufficient room in the tow truck. Advance reservations are not available.
AAA estimates that a first-time conviction for driving under the influence in California can cost $15,500 or more in fines, penalties, restitution, legal fees and increased insurance costs.
