Batteries Plus Bulbs stores featuring service to restore water-damaged electronic devices
Batteries Plus Bulbs, which has five Sacramento-area franchise stores overseen by the father-son team Don and Ryan Tollefson, has formed a partnership with a Denver-based company that specializes in restoring water-damaged mobile phones and other electronic devices.
TekDry’s services are being offered at Batteries Plus Bulbs stores in Sacramento, West Sacramento, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove and Roseville. Batteries Plus Bulbs stocks batteries for numerous devices, including cellphones, motor vehicles, boats, computers and cordless equipment.
TekDry said its “water vaporizing technology” can fix water-damaged mobile phones, tablets, cameras, MP3 players, gaming systems and computers. TekDry said its “emergency rescue” service is being offered in addition to Batteries Plus Bulbs’ already existing repair services. Batteries Plus Bulbs, which has more than 650 stores nationwide, is testing the service in some markets.
TekDry claims that there’s an 80 percent chance that a water-damaged device can be repaired when actions is taken shortly after damage occurs. The company cites a 48-hour window. TekDry said customers are charged only if a device’s function is restored. Prices range from $39.99 for key fobs and traditional watches to $69.99 for smartphones and wearables such as the upcoming Apple smartwatch. The cost to repair tablets and laptops is $99.99.
