Report: California auto dealerships accounted for $105.1 billion in sales last year

More than 1,350 new-car dealerships in California accounted for total sales of $105.1 billion in 2014, according to the Sacramento-based California New Car Dealers Association.

In its 2015 Economic Impact Report, CNCDA said $66.1 billion of that total came from new-vehicle sales, with other gross earnings divided among used vehicle sales, service, parts and financing. Nearly 1.85 million new motor vehicles sold statewide in 2014.

The average sales per dealership last year was $77.42 million.

CNCDA said statewide auto industry jobs in 2014 totaled 130,368 with an annual payroll of nearly $7 billion among all dealerships.
