The TGI Fridays restaurant at 7101 Laguna Blvd. in Elk Grove has closed its doors.
According to an emailed statement from TGI Fridays’ marketing firm in Chicago, “We were notified that the Fridays location in Elk Grove closed due to the franchisee failing to pay rent to its landlord.” There was no elaboration.
The Laguna Boulevard restaurant has had an up-and-down history. It closed in September 2009 amid the collapse of the restaurant companies overseen by Roseville developer Abolghassem “Abe” Alizadeh, who is currently facing a federal indictment for colluding to defraud three local banks of about $20 million.
The Elk Grove outlet reopened in August 2011 under a new franchisee group doing business as Stripes Inc. Efforts to reach the company were unsuccessful.
