Making way for the co-op
In a mere two days, workers put up more than half the walls for a new midtown parking garage at 28th and S streets, part of construction for a new Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op store. In all, workers will tilt up 35 concrete wall panels, each weighing between 60,000 and 110,000 pounds. When the four-level garage is done in August, work will begin on the 26,000-square-foot store on an adjacent parcel. The co-op is set to open by mid-2016.
