Region’s third Amazon distribution center coming to Roseville
An Amazon hub distribution center is coming to Roseville, joining two Sacramento facilities as the third in the capital region. The company’s hubs are metropolitan distribution centers where packages are sorted and sent out for delivery.
Many residents took note of a possible Amazon facility after company signs were placed outside a building in the 7600 block of Foothills Boulevard. Council member Scott Alvord confirmed the news over Facebook on Thursday.
Alvord said that there are “some really cool aspects” about the Roseville center, which will be released when Amazon announces the news. The council member, who currently serves as CEO of Advanced Development Concepts LLC, a business consulting company, congratulated the city on the addition.
“It’s cool. It’s good for the city,” Alvord wrote.
The Sacramento Amazon facility, which opened in October of 2017, employs about 2,000 full-time workers.
The timeline for the opening of the Amazon hub in Roseville is still unknown.
