Big Lots closed its Citrus Heights location in early January, according to a company representative.

“Aligning with standard retail business practices, we review our store portfolio on an ongoing basis and sometimes decide, for business reasons, to close or relocate,” said Joshua Chaney in an email to The Bee.

In the third quarter review, the retailer reported a net loss of $103 million, according to its Q3 results.

Big Lots had 149 stores in California as of 2021, according to its website. The discount chain is closing seven stores in California and Colorado, Business Insider reported. The company sells furniture, seasonal items, electronics and more at comparably low prices.

“Although we are operating in a challenging macroeconomic environment, we remain enthusiastic about our tremendous opportunity to provide even more value for our customers,” said Bruce Thorn, president and CEO of Big Lots in its Q3 review news release.
