SMUD ranks second in customer satisfaction among West region utilities

The Sacramento Metropolitan Utility District has again been ranked second by residential customers among large utilities in the West, according to an annual study released Wednesday by Westlake Village-based J.D. Power.

Power’s “2015 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study” measured customer satisfaction in six areas, including power quality and reliabilityand customer service.

SMUD ranked second among electric utilities in the West with 500,000 or more residential customers.

The study, now in its 17th year, has consistently ranked SMUD second in the region. The Salt River Project based in Tempe, Ariz., won the top spot in the West for the 14th year in a row.

The 2015 study results were based on responses from 102,525 online interviews conducted from July 2014 through May 2015, J.D. Power said.
