UPS to cut two shifts at West Sacramento warehouse

Layoff notices

UPS will cut two shifts at a West Sacramento warehouse, putting 355 workers at risk of layoff.

The company said that though the night and twilight sort shifts will end in mid-July, the facility — located at 1380 Shore Street in West Sacramento — will remain open.

The Atlanta-based parcel service said the move is part of a companywide initiative that it described as “the largest network reconfiguration in UPS history.” The company told investors last month that it planned to cut its operational workforce by around 20,000 positions in 2025, and close 73 leased and owned buildings by the end of June.

The company said some employees may be offered other available positions, at the West Sacramento site or elsewhere. Some are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 150.
