Terra Madre festival packed downtown Sacramento. ‘Momentum for 2027 and beyond’
Tens of thousands of people flooded into downtown Sacramento over the weekend for food trucks, live music and educational panels, for the Terra Madre food festival.
Visit Sacramento, the city’s tourism bureau, estimated that around 155,000 to 165,000 people attended the three-day event, which merged for the first time, this year, with Sacramento’s Farm-to-Fork Festival.
The Farm-to-Fork festival typically draws around 100,000 people over two days, Visit Sacramento President and CEO Mike Testa said Monday.
The downtown Hyatt and Sheraton — two bellwethers for hotels in the area — were booked 100%, and more than 95%, respectively, Testa said. And delegates from Italy and South America, he said, were impressed with the festival, which Sacramento committed to host on odd-numbered years for a ten-year period.
“It gives us momentum for 2027 and beyond,” Testa said.
