Why Raley’s is shutting down one of its Roseville supermarkets this month
Raley’s plans to close one of its six Roseville-area supermarkets later this month, ending more than three decades at 1915 Douglas Blvd.
The grocery chain said the store’s lease recently came up for renewal, and after reviewing the location’s performance, the company decided to close the site, said Chelsea Carbahal, vice president of public affairs for the West Sacramento-based company.
The store employed about 45 people and was scheduled to close Jan. 27. Raley’s said it would attempt to transfer as many employees as possible to other locations.
“We want to thank our loyal customers for their support,” Carbahal said. “While this location will close, our commitment to the Roseville community remains strong through our other stores.”
The Douglas Boulevard store opened in 1991 as a 61,000-square-foot supermarket, bringing Raley’s total number of stores to 65 at the time, according to Bee reporting at the time. Raley’s will have 117 locations after the Douglas closure.
Raley’s locations continue to operate at 6845 Douglas Boulevard in Granite Bay and 4051 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. in Roseville. The company also has two Bel Air locations — on Foothills Boulevard and on Sunrise Avenue — and a Raley’s O-N-E Market on Blue Oaks Boulevard, in the city.
