Citrus Heights is getting a second Grocery Outlet. See when it opens, where
A new Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is opening in Citrus Heights on April 2. The new store, on the south side of the city, will be located at 5409 Sunrise Blvd.
This will be the second Grocery Outlet in Citrus Heights and the 14th store in Sacramento County, according to the chain’s website. Grocery Outlet is a discount secondhand retailer that sells overstocked products from brand and private suppliers, with items sold at 40% to 70% discounts.
The store specializes in “natural, organic, specialty or healthy” food, like organic snacks and gluten-free food at discounted prices, according to social media.
To celebrate its grand opening, the new Citrus Heights store will give away rewards to its customers.
The first 100 customers at the store on April 2 will get a store gift card, ranging from $5 to $500, according a news release. Customers can also enter to win $1,000 in free groceries from opening day to May 1. Additionally, customers that register the new Citrus Heights location as their “home store” on the Grocery Outlet app will get a $5 coupon for any $25 purchase.
The store is also donating $1,000 to the Citrus Heights Police Activities. It’s a nonprofit that focuses on “creating positive relationships between the youth in (Citrus Heights) and officers in the (city’s) police department,” according to the city of Citrus Heights.
The incoming Grocery Outlet will be run by Greg and Stephanie Ashworth. The Ashworths are independent owners of the store, a news release stated.
Originally beginning in Emeryville, Grocery Outlet was founded by Jim Read in 1946 and sold discounted military surplus items. There is more than 400 stores nationwide and deems itself as the “nation’s largest extreme value retailer,” according to its website.
The other Grocery Outlet location in Citrus Heights is at 6059 Greenback Lane.
