Restaurant known for its hand-cut steaks has arrived in Elk Grove. Where is it?
Cattlemens Steakhouse has arrived in Elk Grove as the restaurant chain expands across the Sacramento region.
Located at 9105 W Stockton Blvd. in Elk Grove’s downtown, Cattlemens serves hand-cut steaks, prime rib and a variety of American-style seafood, pasta and other dishes, according to its website. Miranda Smith, a spokesperson for Cattlemens, said the restaurant specializes in “western hospitality.”
“You get a lot of bang for your buck because fixins come with every single entrée,” Smith said. “That’s all you can eat salad, our fresh baked bread, our ranch style beans, also includes the house sides.”
Smith said Cattlemens had been eyeing Elk Grove for a “long time,” due to the city’s population and distance to other Cattlemens dining spots. The chain has locations across California. In the Sacramento area there is a Cattlemens in Rancho Cordova on 12409 Folsom Blvd. and another in Roseville on 2000 Taylor Road.
Cattlemens was founded in 1968 by father and son duo, Pete Gillham Sr. and Pete Gillham Jr. Both from cattle ranching backgrounds. The Gillhams decided to start their business after struggling to find “great beef” at other restaurants, according to the business website.
With the opening of the restaurant, Cattlemens has hired more than 120 staff who are part of the Elk Grove community, Smith said. Cattlemens also does private catering for events and specializes in dining for large groups, Smith added.
“We wanted to be able to go into a restaurant and accommodate that family style eating,” Smith said. “We do a lot of celebrations, birthdays. You’ll hear the birthday song all night long at Cattlemens.”
Cattlemens is open Mondays to Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays through Sundays at 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to its website.
