Mediterranean street food franchise kicks off weekend with opening in Roseville
A Mediterranean street food restaurant is opening in Roseville’s Rocky Ridge Town Center.
Spitz Mediterranean Street Food is set to open Friday, July 9, according to a news release. The Mediterranean spot at 2030 Douglas Boulevard will be run by Jaz Sibia and Roseville native Sandeep Gill.
The two men were first inspired to bring Spitz to Roseville after enjoying a meal from one of the chain’s restaurants in Park City, Utah. After the first few bites, they knew they needed to bring Spitz back home.
“We signed up for the franchise right away,” Gill said. “About 12 months later, we’re gonna open our first location.”
Gill and Sibia both have backgrounds in restaurants and hospitality. Gill, specifically, developed five Sourdough & Co. locations in the Sacramento region and the Bay Area, he said. He also owns Slice House in Folsom and Granite Bay.
For founder Bryce Rademan, the idea of a restaurant in Roseville aligned with the chain’s goals to expand more in California. Spitz has locations across the United States, with five in the Los Angeles area and one in San Diego, according to its website. This would be the first location in the central and northern California regions.
“We’ve been in California since the beginning in LA,” Rademan said of the chain’s launch in 2006. “We have been wanting to come up to the central California area for quite some time.”
Spitz serves classic Mediterranean street food, such as wraps (doners), gyros, salads, loaded fries and protein bowls. The restaurant menu also includes vegan, gluten-free, paleo and keto options, according to a Spitz news release.
To celebrate the restaurant’s opening, the first 25 customers will get a free goodie bag with Spitz merchandise, Gill said.
Spitz Roseville will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
