Consumer Reports says new Tesla is best car ever
The new Tesla P85D scored a 103 out of 100 on a new Consumer Reports test, so the company had to totally reconfigure its rating system. The official score is now a mere perfect 100.
The new model goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, more than two seconds faster than the original Tesla Model S – which scored 99 out of 100 – the fastest acceleration the magazine had ever measured. It is also the most expensive car Consumer Reports has tested, costing more than $127,000.
“It’s more like a tech company than a car company,” said Jake Fisher of Consumer Reports in a video of the new Tesla. Part of the reason the car scores so high is the premium Consumer Reports places on fuel efficiency and, because the Tesla is electric, it doesn’t use any gasoline.
