Walmart breaks ground on new Supercenter in Sacramento County

Retailing giant Walmart said Monday that construction has begun on a new 132,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter in Sacramento County.

The store at 8915 Gerber Road – east of Highway 99 near Elk Grove Florin Road – will be situated near the city boundaries of both Elk Grove and Sacramento.

Walmart officials said they expect the store to open in late summer 2015 and will employ about 300 part- and full-time workers.

Spokeswoman Delia Garcia said Walmart likely will open a hiring center closer to the store’s opening in 2015. Walmart job openings also can be tracked at careers.walmart.com.
