Bucking the national trend, California and Sacramento saw modest gains in online job ads in September, according to the latest monthly report by The Conference Board, the New York-based business research group.

On Wednesday, the board said Golden State employers posted 620,000 online ads in September, up 5,000, or 0.8 percent, from 615,000 in August.

Sacramento also saw a monthly gain, with employers posting 29,800 online ads in September, up nearly 3.5 percent from 28,800 in August.
