Sacramento-area businesses offer free meals, specials on Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, a number of Sacramento-area businesses are offering free meals and other specials to U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel on Tuesday. Here’s a roundup:

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour Restaurant1625 Watt Ave. in Sacramento, is offering a free “All American Red, White and Blue Thank You” ice cream sundae to armed services veterans and those on active duty. No other purchase is necessary, but the deal cannot be combined with other offers. A valid military ID is needed.

California Pizza Kitchen is inviting veterans and active military to enjoy a complimentary entree at all its stand-alone restaurants on Veterans Day. CPK has local outlets at 1735 Arden Way near the Arden Fair shopping center and at 1190 Roseville Parkway in the Fountains at Roseville retail complex.

IHOP, the national pancake chain, said many of its restaurants will be offering free red-white-and-blue pancakes to former and present military personnel from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The company said its offer varies by location; contact your local IHOP restaurant in advance.

Golden Corral said all of its U.S. restaurants will serve free dinner buffets with beverage from 5 to 9 p.m. next Monday to any person who is serving or has served in a U.S. military branch, including the National Guard and reserve units.

Free haircuts are being offered by Great Clips to past/present military personnel from Tuesday through Dec. 31. Military personnel can visit a Great Clips salon on Veterans Day for a free haircut or pick up a free haircut card to use later, with proof of service. Also, any non-military customers who purchase a hair salon service on Tuesday will receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran or active personnel. The cards are redeemable through the end of this year.
