Sacramento’s River City Bank said Tuesday it has opened a commercial banking office in Walnut Creek, its first Bay Area location.
River City said opening the Bay Area office is a “natural progression” of its shift from a Sacramento retail bank to a statewide business-oriented bank.
“Establishing a brick-and-mortar hub in the San Francisco region has always been a key component of our expansion strategy, and Walnut Creek is a beautiful place to start,” said bank President and Chief Executive Steve Fleming in a prepared statement.
Fleming said River City has been building an extensive corporate loan portfolio in the Bay Area for several years. The bank’s asset base has increased 16 percent, to $1.4 billion, in the past year.
