A new nine-screen movie theater in Rocklin will offer an entrée and a mixed drink with first-run films.
Studio Movie Grill is opening its first mult-plex on the west coast at 5140 Commons Drive next month in time for the release of “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.”
The 35,000-square movie theater complex is similar to other dinner-with-a-movie concept movie houses popularized by Texas' Alamo Drafthouses. The Studio Movie Grill in Rocklin is the company’s 19th location.
The theaters will have fixed lounge seats, individual dining tables and a bar area.

“The new theater encompassing in-theater dining and movies will be sure to bring many happy patrons,” said Rocklin Mayor Scott Yuill in a press release.
The Dallas-based company has theaters in nine states. The theater in Duluth, Ga., lists adult non-peak evening tickets at $11 and adult matinee prices for $9.
Customers can buy tickets online or at the theater. Film-goers are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes before showtime.
If seating has not begun for the movie, patrons can order a cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage from the lobby bar until seating is announced.
Once seated, service is available by pushing a service button, at every seat, table or counter.
Movie patrons can order from the Studio Movie Grill menu as much and as often as they like during the movie. The company promises that orders are delivered to customers without compromising the movie-going experience.
A two-for-$25 combination menu offer on the company website includes one appetizer and two entrees. Appetizers include the traditional theater popcorn and chicken nachos. Entrees include blackened chicken salad, pepperoni pizza, burgers, crispy chicken tenders and Carne Pomodoro pasta.
A server delivers a check before the movie ends.
Studio Movie Grill is hiring, particularly servers. Once complete, the theater will employ 250 people.
Prospective employees may apply in person at the theater from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday or through the website at www.studiomoviegrill.com.
