Specialty retailer William Glen will host grand-opening festivities on Thursday at its recently opened store at 2310 Fair Oaks Blvd., directly across from the Pavilions shopping center in Sacramento.
The 4,100-square-foot store is overseen by siblings Mark Snyder and Amy Guthrie, son and daughter of Bill Snyder, co-owner and co-founder of the original William Glen in Sacramento’s Town & Country Village shopping complex.
The original 18,000-square-foot William Glen store, started in 1963, closed in 2010, a year after Bill Snyder passed away. Since then, his children have kept the name alive by opening temporary William Glen shops in Sacramento, as well as their own retail stores.
In 2010, Mark Snyder and Guthrie opened a holiday store, Christmas and Co., and the adjacent housewares boutique, Chef’s Mercantile, in Old Sacramento. Last year, they also opened temporary, holiday stores at Sacramento’s Loehmann’s Plaza and Folsom’s Palladio at Broadstone.

The siblings said they had to wait to open their own permanent store under the William Glen name until corporate naming issues were resolved. Once that occurred, they changed their corporate name from C&C Merchants Inc. to William Glen Inc.
